Each year, Harrison County Rural Electric Cooperative and other Iowa electric cooperatives sponsor the Iowa Rural Electric Cooperative Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. One student from “A Member Family” will be selected to join the tour.
What is Youth Tour? It’s an opportunity for participants to visit our nation’s capital and see our government in action. Other activities include:
In addition, all Youth Tour participants can apply for the national Youth Consulting Board (YCB). One student from Iowa will be selected to serve on the YCB. That person’s duties will include assisting at a national REC meeting and working with other YCB members from across the country to promote activities.
How do you apply? Harrison County Rural Electric Cooperative will sponsor a high school sophomore or junior on the Youth Tour. Participants must be the children of Harrison County REC members. Transportation, room and board, entertainment, and sight seeing fees are all paid by Harrison County REC. Students only pay for snacks, souvenirs, or other personal items you might want to purchase.
Don’t miss this opportunity. Information will be on our website and in our New Flashes in February, or contact our office at 647-2727 or 800-822-5591.
