Small's Fruit Farm is located on 33 acres east of Mondamin, Iowa. Owner, Jim Small, is the fifth generation to operate the farm since its beginnings in 1894. He along with his wife Renee, are working with son Trevor to prepare for the sixth generation. Throughout the growing season they harvest strawberries, raspberries, tomatoes, pumpkins, sweet corn, asparagus, and over 28 varieties of apples. Along with the extensive line of produce, the Small's work diligently to provide a unique experience for their customers.
Guests are also welcome to utilize the Apple Chapel for events such as weddings or family gatherings. Renee Small, and her family, hand make thousands of various fruit pies from scratch that are sold throughout the season. Visitors can sample apple cider in the cider shed, purchase pie and ice cream in the pie parlor, or visit during their annual Fall Festival held on the second Sunday in October.
Small's produce can be purchased right at their farm, at the Omaha Farmers Market, or in Sioux City Hy-Vee and Fareway stores. Not only do people love Small's Produce, but their apples are a favorite for the many animals at the Henry Doorly Omaha Zoo. The Small Family enjoys giving back to their community including providing tours for local schools and speaking at the Harrison County Development Corporation course, "Leadership Harrison." When asked about their favorite part of operating their fruit farm, Renee commented, "It's great to see the many generations of visitors who come to our farm. They come back year after year and bring kids and grandkids. It's not only our family with many generations who have been working on the farm, but there are many generations of visitors who come every year." Want to visit Small's Fruit Farm?
