Harrison County REC Responds to December High Winds

  • Posted: 12.16.2021

Last night (Dec.15), Harrison County REC experienced severe weather that impacted our entire service territory. In response to the damaging winds and rain, our crews were dispatched to respond to outages at approximately 4:30 pm and at that time, we were reporting 232 members without power.

The biggest area of our system impacted by this storm was the areas of Dunlap, Dow City, Logan, and Neola. Our crews worked late into the night with the last group returning around 1:30 am (Dec. 16) and the system being mostly restored.

Today, we continue to work on damages from last night. We thank our members for their patience as we worked through the storm and for their diligent reporting of broken poles, downed wires, and other damage and safety concerns throughout the area. We are committed to keeping both our employees and our members safe and will continue monitoring and making repairs throughout our service area as necessary.
