Powering Forward, Together.

Since 1936, Harrison County Rural Electric Cooperative has been proud to serve the families, farms, and businesses that make the communities that we serve strong. Looking forward, our commitment remains the same: keeping costs as manageable as possible, maintaining a culture of safety for both our employees and our membership, and making sure you have power when and where you need it. To assure that the cooperative can continue to meet those responsibilities, our board has implemented a rate adjustment that will take effect beginning with November energy use and will appear on December billing statements.

Every Dollar Matters

We understand that many families and businesses in our communities are facing challenging times. Even a small increase can put added pressure on a monthly budget, and no one wants to see their bills increase. At Harrison County REC, we feel that responsibility deeply. Our team continues to look closely at each of our expenses as well as continue collaborating with our generation partners to make improvements in the way we work and find savings wherever we can. All without compromising the service you know and depend on. We will keep making thoughtful decisions driven by what will work best for the communities that we serve.

Keeping Your Power Reliable

Our members depend on electricity every day, and that need and demand continues to grow. This adjustment will help us care for and strengthen our system infrastructure so it is ready to serve our members now and well into the future. Maintaining that reliability also means providing our employees with safe, dependable equipment and investing in the training and resources they need to care for our system. For 90 years, Harrison County REC has been here to meet the changing needs of our communities. We are committed to continuing that tradition and being ready whenever you flip a switch, start a motor, or power your business.

You Are the Reason We’re Here

Harrison County REC is a not-for-profit cooperative owned by you, the members we serve. That means our focus is on serving you, not outside investors. This unique distinction as your cooperative means that we can work to anticipate challenges and appreciate what is important to our membership. We have programs that may make monthly bills and energy use easier to manage, including budget billing, energy-efficiency rebates, our community solar, our Switch Makes Cents load management program and energy consumption reviews. Any member with questions about the upcoming adjustment, their account, or any of these programs are welcome to reach out to our office by calling 712.647.2727 or via email at Harrisoninfo@hcrec.coop. Our staff is here to listen, talk through your options, and help however we can.

As we move forward together, please know that every decision made by our board of directors and employee team is guided by our responsibility to you and the communities we call home. Thank you for your trust, your understanding, and the opportunity to serve you. We are proud to be your cooperative and remain committed to honoring our mission of safely providing reliable electric power and related services at the best possible value for our members.
